Dr. Susan W. Long is president of S. W. Long and Associates,
a litigation support business located in the Tampa Bay area. Dr. Long
does economic valuations for divorce, personal injury, wrongful death, wrongful
discharge, discrimination, business damages and other litigation-related
issues. She also does the statistical analysis for employment discrimination.
She has qualified in court as an expert witness in most Florida Counties
as well as Richland County in South Carolina, St. Mary Parish in Louisiana,
Harris County in Houston, Texas, federal court and tax court.
Dr. Long received her Ph.D. in finance, economics and statistics
at the University of South Carolina in 1976. She was a university professor
in statistics, economics and finance from 1975 through 1989. While teaching
full-time Dr. Long provided expert economic and statistical testimony on
litigation issues on a part-time basis. In 1988, Dr. Long began providing
litigation support on a full-time basis.
Dr. Long is licensed by the states of Florida and Texas
in Real Estate. She is a member of the Institute of Business Appraisers
and an Associate Member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association. She
was the founding president of the West Central Florida Chapter of the Institute
of Business Appraisers.
Dr. Long is listed in Who's Who in the Southeast, Who's
Who of Emerging Leaders and Who's Who Women of the World. She is a frequent
contributor to Fair$hare, a journal in matrimonial law.
Dr. Long's professional publications include articles on economic losses in personal injury, how to handle illiquidity in equitable distribution, pension valuation and business declines during divorce. In addition, Dr. Long has published numerous articles in areas of corporate finance, portfolio management and applied statistics. Dr. Long has been an invited speaker at the Financial Management Association, the Hillsborough County Bar Association's Marital Law Section, the Professional Association of Professional Investigators, Eastern Finance Association, the Hillsborough County Bar Association's Solo Practitioner Section and numerous other professional associations.
